National School for the Handicapped has been in the active service of the disabled people under the able management of Novelty Education Society, (Regd. Under Societies Registeration Act 1860), Ambala Cantt.

Our School National School for the Handicapped is registered under Section 52 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation Act, 1995.) We have the following accreditations:

1. We are running Study Centre for Diploma in Urdu conducted by National Council for promotion of Urdu Language under the Ministry of Human Development (Deptt. Of Secondary and Higher education) Govt. of India.
   
   
2. We are also running Foundation Course on Education of Children with Disabilities a collaborative National Programme of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University (MPBOU) and Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)
   
   
3. We are also conducting an Awareness – cum- training Packages in Disability for the parents and family members of children with disabilities, a joint initiative of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). We also have a tele- conferencing facility (DRS) of IGNOU at our Resource – cum- Office at Ambala Cantt.
   
   
4. We have been allotted Spot Admission Centre for Chaudhary Devi Lal University,SIRSA (Haryana) under distance learning programme.
   
   
5. We have 3 accreditations of the National Institute of Open Schooling a premier educational body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Deptt. Of Education, Govt. of India namely:
   
   

   (a) Vocational Educational Programmes
   Certificate in Computer Applications, Certificate in Basic Computing, Certificate in Computer Hardware, DTP, Cutting and Tailoring and Dress Making, Secretarial Practice, Radio and T.V. Repairing, Beauty Culture, Food Processing, House keeping, Catering Management, Laundry Services, Bakery & Confectionary. Modern Secretarial Practice, Certificate in Toy Making & Joyful Learning.

   (b) Education Of Disadvantaged Children
   To cater to the needs of people with physical and mental disabilities, the socially and geographically isolated and disadvantaged sections such as street children, working children, rural women we are having an accreditated institution named Special Accreditated Institutions for Education of the Disadvantaged (SAIED).
   
   We have the Study Centre of Secondary & Sr. Secondary Classes in which Urdu Language can be taken as Medium. NIOS has provided all secondary books in Urdu Language for the benefit of Minority Section.

   (c) Open Basic Education Programme
   Under the guidance of National Institute of Open Schooling we are running Open Basic Education (OBE) programme, as an alternative educational programme, equivalent to the Elementary Education Programme of the formal educational system.
   
   The OBE programme is offered at three levels:
   OBE Level A: equivalent to class 3
   OBE Level B: equivalent to class 5
   OBE Level C: equivalent to class 8
   
   We have also maintained a well equipped Library having books on various subjects such as disability, health related, govt. notifications etc and last but not the least educational books on various national issues. We also have software programmes on computer for children’s as well as adults depending on their intellect.
   
   The classroom are equipped with the audio – visual equipment like LCD, VCR, OHP Projector, Computers, Television etc. The Institute invests in the latest equipment to acquaint students with the latest technology.
